IBt Bebig, a subsidiary of Eckert & Ziegler AG (ISIN DE0005659700) and a leading manufacturer of cancer radiation technology has absorbed all the shares in Bavarian SonoTech GmbH, a minor software developer which has specialised in the planning of radiation therapy.
The company positioned in Neu-Ulm, developed, among others, the software for the use of implants which IBt Bebig has in its range for the treatment of carcinoma of the prostatic gland. Furthermore, the company develops software to plan radiation therapy for the devices used for tumour radiation therapy of IBt Bebig, which are already being used on a broad scale and highly successfully by clinics and radiotherapists throughout the world.
"By the acquisition and the integration of SonoTech we are increasing our share in the value chain for the treatment of prostate cancer and other tumours", as Dr. Edgar Löffler, Member of the Board of Eckert & Ziegler AG and responsible for the segment Therapy explained. "Our additional benefit is the possibility to further develop software in line with our own ideas. We are certainly most pleased that this step has led us to being able to bind the experienced software developers of SonoTech to our Group and are sure this will considerably enhance our competitive standing."
